There is no obvious surface that you can reach during your jumps because your life and luck will not get you there. The happiest men can reach a few thousand feet, but there is still no surface. To move, you must jump on flowing jellyfish that act as trampolines. Also, other fish have a tendency to take your life, but if you tread on it and don't find it on the same level, you will drastically fall on a trampoline. SpongeBob will fall into the void and lose a life if he does not step on any fish. He loses one life if he comes into contact with a fish that isn't a jellyfish. The game subtotal is given once all lives are lost.
